patchwork quilt stockings

Now that these have arrived safely in Alaska, I can share them.

I stitched these quilted stockings up for my girl - a little something to send her a hug from her mama on our first Christmas apart. (sniff*sniff)

I didn't use a pattern, but I can share a bit about how I constructed them. First I pieced a large "L" shape with the front fabrics and quilted it onto a piece of thin batting (no backing). I repeated this for the solid side of the stocking. Next, I cut out the stocking shapes from the quilted "L" pieces and lining fabric, then I put them all together the same way you would make a lined bag, if that makes sense. I pressed the lining to go over the from to create a "binding" look and topstitched it. You can find custom leather tags on Etsy, lots of sellers make them.

Soph requested coordinating but not matching and I'm really happy with how they came out! The colors on Soph's are my favorite.... but I had the most fun finding "outdoorsy" fabrics in holiday-ish colors for her partner, Curtis, who is the ultimate hunter-fisher-guy. If you look closely, there are goats and animal tracks and fishing lures!

I'm sure these are the first of many!
